Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

Prior to the April tagging voyage Tim Shields was new to the Revillagigedo island routine and giant yellowfin tuna angling. Tim was well prepared for the trip with perfect equipment and preparation overseen by his good friend Bill Grimsley and a host of other long range veterans. The advantages of using the big gear when targeting giant yellowfin made the right impression on Mr. Shields as he wielded Cal Sheets' custom "80" with authority during many battles with giant yellowfin. The standout accomplishment was Tim's first yellowfin over two hundred that came in at 269, but there were many other epic battles that fine tuned his skills as a giant tuna fisherman during this voyage. In fact, after the fishing we all experienced, Tim now qualifies as a Revillagigedo veteran in every respect. The last thing I can say about Tim's indoctrination into giant yellowfin fishing is that his success was a result of preparation, more preparation, and the right mind set. Tim's enthusiasm for the project was appreciated by all as well as his effort and success. Congratulations from all of us Tim!
