Fish Report for 11-3-2012
11/02/12
We got off to a good start with a fine round of jerkin' and pullin' on 18 - 25# yellowfin, a smattering
of yellowtail and dorado, and just over a handful of coveted "skin". "Variety is the spice of life"; and
the basic tenant of the fall ten day voyage in our eyes. A little catching goes a long way as well -
especially on day one as the anxiety of a fair travel stretch is eased by the action and rail time in
practice of what we came for.
Primo weather, good fishing, worthy prospects, and a wealth of time to make it happen; I'd say we are in
about as good a position as one could ask for at this point in the voyage. Throw in a few trophies down
the line and this has the makings of an ideal run. But we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves in
predicting any outcomes yet. It all looks fine right now; we'll see what tune I'm singing in a few days.
Photo for the day features first time ten day angler Jeff Flowers who scored big on day one with exactly
what he came for. Bringing in his first "skin", or wahoo, backwards, the ice was broken early. From that
point on the skills Jeff developed in his distant days working the local rigs over at Seaforth were set
in motion. Also, a call out is in order to Jeff's best feature - his wife Rosie, whose charm and devotion
to delivering superior customer service at Fisherman's Processing speaks for itself. He is a lucky man;
as are we.

11-2-201211/01/12 A front row seat to the passage of time, minute by minute, while a myriad of treasures are exposed along the way. Depending on the level of interest, on how closely one chooses to observe, these long hauls to the south can fit any description between dull and marvelous. It's a broad spectrum either filled by interest, appreciation, and curiosity, or voided by the standard shore side pace that demands instant gratification from every minute passed. It takes time out here...... Read More

10/31/12 A Halloween departure with the best load of sardines we have seen in some time, and a fired up group of veteran and novice anglers that gladly leave the ghosts and ghouls behind. I have enjoyed a thorough time ashore in deep reflection about present affairs. With the benefit of some incredibly valuable wisdom and insight shared by the silent majority I am compelled this one time to comment on what I view as a real concern to the long range......
