A fine compliment to the offshore tuna fishing this morning as we enjoyed scenic variety and very good
yellowtail action to round out this beautiful catch. Perfect weather, perfect conditions, a wealth of
time, and an abundance of life are making for a happy time of it.

So happy in fact that we took the afternoon to fish for kelp bass while searching for new sources of
yellowtail in balmy, "jockstrap" weather. Tropical conditions, with water temperatures in the 80 - 82
degree Fahrenheit range, are the present standard and the air temperatures mid afternoon followed suit.

It was another good day that was the ideal example of why long range fishing is so distinct and special.
Between the variety of conditions, fishing, and scenic marvels - I haven't even mentioned any of the
incredible whale shows, Orcas, and dolphin activity we are fishing amidst, there is no comparison to any
sport fishing venue world wide.

Speaking of scenic marvels photos today are of a completely different sort. While there have been bait
woes aplenty over the past 50 days we have been enjoying a gift from the fish gods on and off to
supplement many of the weaker sardine loads. Tonight was a perfect example. Take a look at this juicy
float and imagine how it translates into fishing results.

9/17/12 It wasn't the big barn burner as yesterday, both in the grade of fish and pace of action, but it was a fine day nevertheless with one productive mid morning stop on school size bluefin and just over a handful more of jumbo albacore. Fitting the pattern of the past month one day out here on the offshore grounds in no way, shape, or form has any bearing on what will happen the next. The one certainty is that there is......
