Another fine day of variety fishing though the yellowtail production fell markedly. Far from a bust
however we occupied the entire day with a few yellows here and there, a few more croakers (WSB), and a
few more big butts. Capped off with a very good mid day round of Calico Bass fishing and the day was
deemed a success.

Now it is time to head back out, sloppy conditions or otherwise, and get looking for the final species,
actually the final family, that will propel this catch into the category of exceptional. Any variety of
tuna will do - albacore, Bluefin, yellowfin, big eye - we'll take them. But with the weather still up and
the Bluefin now three days incognito we have our work cut out for us; time to beat the bushes.

Two days remaining is a wealth of time to do some business when we find them. And if we don't it will not
be an effort in vain. It is well worth it, and necessary. For certain we won't find them in 5 to 15
fathoms; our job here is done.

Photos for the day feature combo charter masters Dave Berutich pulling on one of his many fine yellowtail
and Larry Brown who enjoyed catch of the afternoon status with his largest ever halibut, this fine 38
pounder.

But persistence and endurance of fairly sloppy conditions led to a fine day of catching in the end. Yellowtail and coastal variety were again the quarry as the appeal of good fish sign and close refuge motivated the move. Between the yellowtail, a few big halibut, and even a couple of...... 6/19/12 For being pinned down by harsh weather on the outside I can't say we fared all that bad. A good morning of yellowtail action on quality, 18 - 25# fish got the day started on the right foot though conditions even close to the coast were terrible at times. Winds in the range of 25 - 35 knots and sloppy, wind against current conditions made every fish landed a precious prize earned the old fashioned way. Suffice to say conditions...... Read More
