Fish Report for 8-30-2009
When you're hot you're hot. That about says it all taking today's results into account. Eighty eight premium Guadalupe yellowfin and one bigeye tuna found their way into our RSW tanks after as anglers reveled in the pursuit of the beautiful size class tuna throughout the day. It was not the kind of fishing we experienced yesterday, with crazy biting fish annihilating everything that hit the water, but every angler putting time in at the rail was rewarded numerous times as the consistent one to five hookups during the regular stops added up to a fine total. Throw in grease calm conditions occasionally buffeted by light and variable breezes and the stage was set for a near perfect day of Guadalupe tuna fishing. At present we could not ask for anything more.
So again the plan is set for us by primo conditions and fantastic fishing. This is one of those very rewarding times when everything is seeming to align for our benefit. It doesn't happen this way too often so needless to say we are appreciating the good fortune with appropriate gratitude. We will see if the incredible momentum we have established continues tomorrow. Spirits are high and as we service the gear in preparation for tomorrow we can only think of good things to come. Time will tell.
Photos today feature Royal Star anglers Mike Nagao with his eighty two pound yellowfin and Trevor Fulks with his forty pound class bigeye taken amidst a dandy school of yellowfin tuna. Go figure. There are where you find them. Congratulations to both anglers and look for tomorrow's report with the details.

8-29-2009No doubt we were living right today with a handful of good stops on mixed 20 - 40# albacore and 20 - 50# yellowfin tuna that added up to a fantastic day of offshore fishing. Combined with near flat calm conditions, a better set up could not be drafted, and we took full advantage of the opportunity before breaking from the effort in the late afternoon to set up our next day of fishing at Guadalupe. What a day of...... Read More

And the schedule continues as we depart today on our annual Ty's Tuna five day charter with Charter Master Ty Breitman again assembling a fantastic group of veteran anglers, most of whom have ventured previous Royal Star voyages. As I assisted arriving anglers loading their equipment I was taken aback by some faces I have not had the pleasure to fish with for quite a few years. I am incredibly grateful for the loyalty and support. By far the finest...... Read More
