Fish Report for 5-14-2008
Well I culled through all the fantastic photos to find only one featuring long time Royal Star veteran Murray Darch who shared stories of my youth while running Royal Star voyages fifteen years prior on the ride home. Murray is another one of those anglers who always wears a smile and takes the fishing, good or slow, in stride. In the case of this latest voyage, Murray was wrangling with some difficult luck as he missed on several opportunities at genuine monsters for a garden variety of reasons. This run of challenging luck did not affect Murray's disposition however as he knows the score. As long as one services and maintains the gear properly, the odds will come around. In Murray's case they certainly did as he pulled on many good ones right up to the end.
I am including other photos today and will continue to do so throughout the remainder of the month. We have plenty to share so please enjoy and continue to check in daily.

Greg joined us on Royal Star for the first time this voyage bringing with him half a dozen of our favorite OTR harnesses that are manufactured by his business partner Lon Mikkelson in Oregon....... Prior to the April tagging voyage Tim Shields was new to the Revillagigedo island routine and giant yellowfin tuna angling. Tim was well prepared for the trip with perfect equipment and preparation overseen by his good friend Bill Grimsley and a host of other long range veterans. The advantages of using the big gear when targeting giant yellowfin made the right impression on Mr. Shields as he wielded Cal Sheets' custom "80" with authority during many battles with giant yellowfin.......
