Royal Polaris Update 2/13/06

Royal Polaris Crew

What a day! I started sweating around 10 in the morning and didn't begin cooling off till dinner. My wrists and fingers are worn to a frazzle and my back is killing me. All this just from making up more wind-ons in the galley all day! If I can turn each one I've made into a big tuna, I may open the first cannery ever in Missouri. Big line changes every thing you do out here. Not only the wind-ons, but knots in anything over 60# are pretty useless and are replaced by crimps. Like the leaders, you have to know or learn exactly how to do the crimps. The right size for the right line, and the right spot on the crimper to squeeze it together. They're easier by far than the wind-ons, but one more thing I had to master. Everyone stayed pretty busy making final preparations today and tomorrow morning about 8 the fun begins at Hurricane Bank. We made a brief stop a few minutes ago for squid. Let's just say I hope the rest of the fishing is more productive. As far as the weather goes, I hate to even mention it for fear that I'll jinx it. In a word it's perfect. What a great ride so far! I just wish I could have gotten out of the galley to enjoy it more the last few days. Not much else to say. We all go to bed tonight on needles (looping and spectra threading ones of course) and pins in expectations of great things from here on in. Wish us luck, say a good fishing prayer for us, and stay tuned. POEM OF THE DAY Today's fishing is much too hi-tech Making wind-ons will make you a wreck But it's all worth while Tears turn to a smile When the fish of your dreams hits the deck.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 226-8092 to get in on the action.
