Kelp action

Tim Ekstrom

Thus far the bluefin have eluded our best efforts. Not from a lack of effort we spent both day and night flipping rocks and checking old haunts. Nada. A disappearing act worthy of stories past this round has opened the eyes of many a youngster. Us more "seasoned" fishermen however are far from surprised. Experiencing such phenomena plenty in times long past we are simply reminded of the brilliant saying assigned to tuna fishing legend Marco Callini. "Every day I'm out here I am reminded of how much I don't know". Currently we are all being reminded that the bluefin have the upper hand. That said we were again mighty appreciative of the opportunity to mix in some fun catching on excellent grade offshore yellowtail. They are the unquestioned heroes of the current offshore zones. Today's image features long time Royal Star master angler and friend Phil Hashimoto with a nice one.
