Guadalupe/Cedros Combo Connects

"Yesterday was the prettiest day I've seen on the water in many years," said Royal Polaris skipper Frank LoPreste at Fisherman's Landing August 4. "We had a good trip to Guadalupe Island and Cedros, and we had fabulous fishing on yellowtail and dorado on open water."
Mike Coblentz of Commack, NY 3won first place in the jackpot for a 49.4-pound yellowfin tuna. He said it took a sardine on a 4/0 Super Mutu hook tied to 30-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon leader and 60-pound Line One Spectra. He fished with a TLD 10 reel and as seven and a half-foot Pacific Bay rod.
Tom Blohm of Yuma won second place for a 44.4-pound yellowtail, and Dr. Aron Goldberg of Erie, PA took third place for a 43.8-pound yellow. The five-day trip had 21 passengers.
