Fish Report for 10-12-2012
10/11/12
We slow cruised down the line today hitting the brakes just after noon in favor of epic conditions and
potential. One must be light on their feet out here ready to adjust as conditions dictate. The question
of course is whether or not in this case such an adjustment will yield the desired results. At least in
the case of our afternoon it did in the form of some fun action on "ballslapper" grade dorado in about as
pretty a sea state as one can imagine.
Crisp, clear, and warm to perfection the ocean beckoned today with all her guile. Tranquil, serene; so
sweet that one would venture anywhere and beyond blissfully captivated by such mesmeric allure. Such
conditions do wonders for the mind, body, and soul. I would even venture the idea that at least some
portion, some appeal of these long range adventures is captured in days such as this alone. As
opportunities to unplug and unwind go this is difficult to match.
By abating the long haul we gained a bonus afternoon of fishing that while not all that productive in
adding to the hatch did assuage some pent up anxiety in this group of anglers that is beyond ready to
fish. And now that the ball is rolling they can rest assured that it will not stop; that they will get
all they came for in the way of fishing, and with some luck catching, is a promise we deliver on, every
time.

10-11-201210/10/12 I like to think that the combined seventy five years of experience that Randy, Brian, and I have earned in this fishery yield a few important lessons we take heed of. Among those is the scheduling of regular maintenance intervals that allow a few days to tend to the standard projects that accumulate during extended periods of operation. In advance of the fall/winter ten, eleven, and twelve day season we spent a couple of days shore side preparing Royal Star...... Read More

We moved up the line today looking for larger tuna. We found the water structure and quality that we were looking for, but the larger tuna never came up to play. We caught some school size tuna with a few released and a few finding their way into the RSW tank. We will be at the dock tomorrow morning and in for a few days before starting our fall season on wednesday. I would like to thank our chartermaster Larry Brown...... Read More
