Much more like it today although a long morning lull had us laying out and strongly considering plan B, C, and D. As it turned out however, steady afternoon action erased the notion with 60 - 75# yellowfin and 25# yellowtail accumulating in the RSW tanks at a near perfect pace. It was a good day of fishing; so much so that we are compelled to try here again.

Ideal weather, fine fishing conditions, and good sign of this grade tuna are fueling strong optimism about our chances. Regardless of the outcome time remains on our side. We are still on the up slope of the voyage and are glad of it.

Photo today is a departure from the norm as our young subject took a full facial while fishing for squid that was an irresistible snapshot. While this is definitely an example of squid catching gone wrong, the whole process is a barrel of fun and quite lively. Though we caution anglers to not "double dip" the squid on their lines after breaking the surface, it always seems that one or two pranksters intentionally fail to heed the advice. As usual when this occurs, the unsuspecting recipient of a blast of water, slime, and/or ink is quick to seek retribution. Naturally, as the overspray sows collateral damage, alliances form as those initially intending to remain neutral are drawn into the contest; the contest being who can drill the other guy with squid projected artillery. One can imagine the scene when a dozen or more anglers are drawn in. Full rain gear, and a non stop series of hilarious events that leave everyone's cheeks sore from laughter. Catching squid for bait is by far the most entertaining form of supplementation. Anyway Zack Mark demonstrates the results of a self inflicted direct hit. In classic boat form he received zero sympathy for this misfortune. All I, and about fifteen other anglers thought was "hold still while I get the camera". Fortunately, as evidenced in the photo, Zack was a great sport about the whole thing.
