Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

We awoke this morning to improved weather and a giant south swell. After daylight we scratched at the albacore during the periods when they were up. Things were a little slower than yesterday, but we were in the enviable position that anything we caught was just icing on the cake. For our last two stops in the evening we landed 18 bluefin in the 35 - 50# class, 9 yellowfin in the 20 - 35# class and, 15 albacore from 30 - 35#. For our day we had around 80 mixed tuna before having to call it a trip and heading for home.

We will arrive in San Diego at 0730 tomorrow and will be back out in the afternoon. Many thanks to chartermaster extraordinaire Mitch Otera for putting together such a fun group of anglers. We hope to see them all again next year.

Our weather is fair and we...... Read More

The fish then took a break for the rest of the morning. As often happens right at meal time, we found a nice batch during the lunch call. They stuck with us for over an hour biting flylined baits and the kite. We then scratched...... Read More
