Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

We had another fine day of traveling south breaking up the afternoon with half a dozen stops on big offshore wahoo including a whopping eighty nine pounder for long time Royal Star veteran Ross La Rue. The unexpected action on jumbo skinies was a welcome diversion that was thoroughly enjoyed in beautiful, flat calm conditions.

Needless to say Chef Jeffery Grant will be preparing a variety of his phenomenal creations during the next few days featuring ocean fresh wahoo as the main component.

Speaking of cuisine, I really haven't provided much detail of late about our Royal Star galley team featuring Executive Chefs Drew Rivera and Jeffery Grant who are assisted by brand new United States Citizen Eduardo Vargas. With complete confidence I can say that this is the finest pair of chefs I have ever had the pleasure to spend time at sea with. Not only are their culinary creations beyond my ability to describe but they are geniunely affable characters who reach way beyond the call of duty with their readiness to assist in any aspect of this enviornment, including swinging a gaff or tagging a fish. As far as their culinary skills are concerned I will venture an opinion, no wait, I will confidantly challenge any other San Diego long range sport fishing vessel to not only exceed but match Drew and Jeff's ability. I have heard plenty of boasts coming from our competition and good for them for strong promotion. But, I think it is time for Iron Chef San Diego long range to identify the best of the best and award bragging rights accordingly.

Back to fishing we are ready and raring to go tomorrow arriving pre dawn in what we hope will be the right zone. Look for fishing reports to commence tomorrow and if you are on our team please forward some good thoughts.

It looks like this same condition might hold for a few more days so our plans to target trophy yellowfin tuna offshore tomorrow remain solid. Presently there is a shift change taking place down below but at least one of our colleagues will be on the grounds to provide us with the latest details as we narrow down the zone for our arrrival...... We are back underway heading for points south with a stellar group of fishermen well prepared for the challenge of big fish angling. In fact, providing the fish gods have a favorable disposition, I might venture that with the group of anglers we have on this voyage the fish are facing some stiff competition. We'll see. Before we get ahead of ourselves we have plenty of miles to cover, equipment to service, stories to tell, and information to gather. On...... Read More
