Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

We are back underway heading for points south with a stellar group of fishermen well prepared for the challenge of big fish angling. In fact, providing the fish gods have a favorable disposition, I might venture that with the group of anglers we have on this voyage the fish are facing some stiff competition. We'll see. Before we get ahead of ourselves we have plenty of miles to cover, equipment to service, stories to tell, and information to gather. On that note, I can report that good indications of big fish continue below despite the fact that conditions are very dynamic and unpredictable. Finding and staying on them all goes back to that invaluable information from those on the grounds but I already hammered that topic last voyage. One thing certain is that it would be a tremendous disadvantage to be out here without it. Recent catches coming off the boats running down here sure have demonstrated that.

So away we go again loaded for bear with a premium haul of sardines that could not be bested and a group of anglers in the same category. We have a couple of days to get our act together and will be dedicating our effort to exactly that while enjoying good weather on the ride south. Daily reports will continue with all the details. Now we seek the junction of prefect preparation good fortune.

Captain Art Holcomb for providing us with a number of fantastic photos from the voyage including the best squence of photos detailing the process of deploying an archival tag in a one hundred pound yellowfin tuna that I have seen. There are quite a few other variety shots as well as more of the tagging process and victorious anglers with their trophy yellowfin...... Read More
