We've had a couple of technical gliches that prevented daily reporting during the last couple of trips, but I think we have them ironed out now. The report for the last two days is as follows.
Upon arrival at the island on the 12th, we were immediately thrust into action as the entire south end of the island erupted just after daylight. Twenty five to forty pound yellowtail were visible on the surface everywhere while clouds of terns, pelicans, and cormorants charged in sync from below and above. Combined with gorgeous, flat calm conditions, a more idyllic long range fishing scene could not be drafted. The best part about it - they were biting, with the surface iron producing the most exciting action, but the live bait catching equally as well.
Our fine first morning of action quickly flowed into afternoon and the yellowtail changed into a not biting mode, preferring to lazily slurp anchovies on the surface over pursuing ninety five percent of our offerings. We did manage to continue scratching fish here and there through the late evening, and with the beautiful setting, incredible sign of big yellows, and a prospective three hundred thirty mile uphill run to target this season's unreliable albacore, we opted to stick it out in paradise for a second day.

Day two at Cedros began with a bang as an early morning hit for a handful of yellows on the dropper loop rigs produced a fifty four, forty eight, and a forty four pounder, but what appeared to be a good omen was somewhat of an illusion. Not that we didn't catch any fish - we did, but conditions were sloppy, the wind was blowing, and almost eveything we saw was reluctant to bite. Again the signs of big yellowtail, mid size, twelve to fifteen pound yellowtail, and this day, big log barracuda was phenomenal, but they were wholly focused again on the anchovies only accepting what we had to offer on occasion. In the end we scratched together a decent catch that, combined with plenty of good kelp bass action, made for a good time had by all. So, we headed up at day's end with plans target varitey offshore for our final fishing day tomorrow. .
