Royal Star

Not a bad day on the offshore grounds with good steady action on jumbo albacore consistent with the grade we have been enjoying throughout this season. I will say that there is definitely no shortage of fish around and if what we see developing continues northward, I would not be surprised to see some good local fishing on variety over the next couple of months. Overall the day was fantastic with flat calm conditions and regular action but there was definitely some frustration attached as many of the stops on albacore challenged our angling skills with their reluctance to bite. For whatever reason, the albies were somewhat finicky today right through the evening when we traditionally do our best business. Given the indications around and the present sea state, we plan to fininsh our voyage in the offshore zone tomorrow looking for a big hit on these beautiful albacore before we head for home.

We covered excellent ground in the traditionally productive zone but spinoff from tropical storm Blas was the likely culprit affecting our negative results. Fortunately we have plenty of time remaining to get back in the saddle and we plan to...... Read More
