Fish Report for 5-2-2011
As promised, full resolution shots will be featured for the next few days while I have the luxury of sending updates from the beach. On the fishing front Royal Star is back underway heading south for Cabo San Lucas to meet the final group of tagging anglers on Wednesday. I participated in loading our bait for the voyage yesterday before handing the reins to Capt. Sims in favor of the express ride down. The most recent conversation with Capt. Sims indicates that the load of bait is superb, the weather is following that trend, and the boat is running in top form. As of now they are on schedule for an early afternoon arrival in Cabo San Lucas on Wednesday.
Today's photos feature a couple of those release shots I was mentioning that serve the idea well. Both anglers Don Franks and Tim Ziegler are in prime form at the moment of release to describe the sentiment one identifies with. Theirs is a sense of accomplishment completely unique that a rare few will ever know. Look for more shots tomorrow and video clips from this and the next voyage when we return. And, enjoy the beautiful day!

Sparing the finer details suffice to say we shipped a lot of water over the top and did plenty of hanging on with both hands up on the bridge. I was commenting yesterday on the fierce beauty of such tempests, and I stand by the notion proffered; but while it does elicit awe and respect, it also gets old in a hurry. No matter...... Read More

Every once in a while we enjoy the ride home. Less the usual misery battling northward against prevailing wind and seas we actually get things done and appreciate the tranquility. Not that I would encourage anyone to roll the dice; one miserable passage up the line after another easily convinces the prudent individual otherwise; but the occasional sweet reprieve can not be denied. Two days of easy going in seas becalmed and inviting; the surface mirror like and calling; serenading...... Read More
