A fine day of action on yellowfin tuna in the 20 - 140# class with the majority of fish released from 30 - 75#. The signs of fish are incredible and the potential for big fish to show is as good as we can hope for. With a shark factor of about three on a scale of one to ten, we were able to fish with good success on the anchor only occasionally supplementing the local's diet while enjoying steady catching. As the day progressed so did the size average of the tuna we were landing. By evening the majority of what we were landing was in the 75 - 120# class with one standout for tagging veteran Mike Shannon that measured right at 150 pounds. So far so good. No sign of big cows yet, but we are well acquainted with how quickly things change down here. With time on our side, and plenty of options looking ahead, we are feeling very pleased with the overall set up.

Epic weather and scenery also graced the effort today with light and variable, soft sub-tropical breezes regulating ideal temperatures while anglers enjoyed flat calm sea conditions that were perfect in every respect. Again; fishing paradise. Taking this into consideration, we deemed Socorro well worth another day to evaluate the big fish potential and continue deploying tags in whatever tuna come over the rail. Beyond that, the fishing and conditions will dictate our strategy. For now all is well and we are glad of it.

Revillagigedo Marine Reserve. As clich? as it is I have to say that for a setting to fish in it doesn't get any better that this. For a fisherman anyway.
