And the action continues though I must admit that these guys were showing signs of fatigue after another twenty five eighty to two hundred pound class yellowfin tuna were tagged and released by 0800. We slowed the pace after our morning hit taking a tour around the north side of the island to search for Wahoo as well as give anglers a breather and a chance to tune up their tackle in preparation for what we hoped would be another shot at the beautiful big fish in the afternoon and evening. Ultimately, the pace of the afternoon and evening action was a little slower than yesterday but was still fantastic by any standard with another eight or ten yellowfin in the one hundred seventy to one hundred ninety nine pound class with one right at two and another at two twenty seven. Combined with at least another fifteen or twenty eighty to one hundred fifty pound fish, the day ended with plenty of exhilaration, exhaustion, and most importantly, satisfaction.

I know I am simply spouting out statistics today and yesterday but there is much more to tell when time allows. Suffice to say that this is presently trophy yellowfin tuna fishing paradise with the most picturesque scenery one can imagine, perfect weather, primo fishing conditions, and as many big yellowfin eager to be tagged that we can handle. The number of tagged yellowfin released after this point boils down to sheer horsepower - how much pulling power these warriors will be able to muster tomorrow. My best guess is that the adrenaline rush of these big tuna crashing around and fishermen reveling in the ultimate glory of their domain will motivate production as long as these men are able to stand. We, of course, will be there with them as we are hoping for another big day tomorrow.

Opportunities like these are what we live for. Yes, we are very pleased.

No doubt about it, this day lived up to all expectations and then some as over one hundred yellowfin tuna, with around eighty in the 120 - 195# class, were tagged and released by sixteen hard charging anglers. The "smaller" seventy to one hundred pounders were also plenty challenging giving every angler a good thrill despite the fact that they didn't quite measure up to their larger brethren. Man what a day. Fantastic conditions, plentiful, biting fish, plentiful bait, a...... Read More

No flowery description can obscure the reality of what San Benedicto offered in the way of yellowfin tuna or Wahoo action today as the entire island yielded a paltry three Wahoo for the effort. I can't really blame conditions, the weather, or anything else as the area around the island was simply devoid of apex predator life - including sharks of which we landed none. The good news is that regardless of the pathetic results on tuna the visit was...... Read More
