Fish Report for 11-28-2007
To put it lightly we bombed today with our inevitable turn in the barrel demonstrating again that the law of averages is always impartial. When your number comes up there are no alternatives. One must simply take the bruising and forge ahead. The good news for our ego is that it was a down day on the big fish with only a handful of fish above one hundred fifty pounds taken collectively among us. So, thankfully we didn't miss any big opportunities but, beyond the selfish perspective, it would have been much better for the fleet to see better sign and make a significant catch. There were a lot of miles covered today, a lot of ocean surface scanned, and a lot water from the surface to fifty fathoms scanned with state of the art sonars for very little fish. It is not time to start fretting or writing things off down here however.
Although we (the fleet) did not see any significant sign throughout the day, all indicators point to this being a down day and nothing more. There is no special significance to attach and no call to over think it. This was simply a day when the big fish moved out into the deeps preferring to tour beyond our reach for what we hope will be only a minimal duration. All the other signs are here, the smaller fish are cooperating for those who direct their efforts as such, and there is nothing to inspire any sentiment other than optimism. Admittedly though I was feeling pretty bitter by day's end. So be it. Tomorrow is a new day and the bright side is that everything in our control has us positioned for success. If the big fish show up for the party, we have a very high degree of confidence in our ability to find and accomodate them. We will see tomorrow.

11-27-2007Not the big late bonanza hit like yesterday, but we kept the ball rolling in the right direction with a nice day on big yellowfin with a couple of mid deuces in the mix. The weather continues to bless our efforts and everything else is in order. There continues to be plenty of sign around and it appears that we are only getting a slight piece of the potential this zone has to offer. Honestly, it gives one the impression...... Read More

We began our day with high hopes for a fair shot at trophy yellowfin tuna with perhaps a few two hundred pound class fish mixed in. At two thirty p.m. we were hoping for anything; even one. Just a chance to open the hatch was where our sights became focused. At two forty five p.m. our prayers were answered as the first beautiful trophy yellowfin came over the rail, then followed twenty more. Epic weather, and very good fishing for...... Read More
