Fish Report for 9-3-2007
A gruesome end was looming as the three o?clock hour rolled around and the guys were fishless following a long morning of northward travel from Guadalupe. With a better showing on the albacore earlier in the day, there was much promise for a happy ending, but optimism was waning as the fish dropped back down to the deeps just after noon. To make a long story short they saved it. Captain Toussaint got on one of those rolls he is well known for and began to string together good stops loading up by day?s end with a huge sense of victory and relief combined. Once again the eleventh hour saved not only the day, but likely the trip and one can only give thanks accordingly. So, now another shift change arrives as I take the helm for our annual Mike Ross five day voyage. The stage is set so we will see how the trip unfolds and, of course, continue to pass along the details.

9-3-2007Well, Isla Guadalupe was definitely not our savior producing virtually nothing in the way of catching. Of course it was a nice scenic tour, and a chance to stop the boat and fish while anchored, but that is small consolation when the all important catching part of the equation is absent. Not much to report in the way of catching as the offshore albacore action took a powder during the last couple of days leaving those who gambled on the fish turning on again holding the bag. Unfortunately for us, we are in that exact position, but we have two days to make up the deficit, and a couple of good moves still at our disposal. Thankfully, the weather is forecast to ease off so don?t be surprised to see those...... Read More
