Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

The guys absolutely railed the albacore yesterday producing by far the best score and reporting the best biting fish of the season. In fact, it was so good that Captain Brian Sims was headed south by six p.m. with as much albacore as they wanted in the hatch while the fish were still biting with abandon. As we say, timing is everything. In this instance the combination of time of year, volume of fish, flat calm weather, and the perfect moon phase added up to no surprise. If we had to predict a perfect offshore scenario for albacore angling ? conditions yesterday would be it. Although Royal Star is out of the albacore picture with visions of island fishing for the remainder of the trip, it?s a good bet that there is plenty more fantastic offshore albacore action to come during the next couple of weeks.

Before I sign off I want to direct everyone to the new, 2008 ? 2009 schedule posted in the ?News? section of our website. If you are considering a Royal Star long range voyage next season, the trip dates, sponsors, and price information are now available. When viewing the schedule, remember that all voyages feature limited angler loads and prices are all inclusive with no additional charge for permits or fuel unless a significant increase above $2.75/gallon occurs. If you find a voyage you are interested in, please call Tracy at your earliest convenience as many popular summer and fall trips already have extremely limited availability. Don?t let that dissuade you however as Tracy is well known to work magic when accommodating all Royal Star anglers. The annual printed schedule/brochure will follow in a few weeks, but if would like to get a jump on setting up your long range fishing plans next season, the information is now available.

Look for daily reports to continue with the latest island update coming soon.

The guys finished up the voyage with a final full day of offshore albacore fishing in good weather. It was not a wide open day of non stop catching but they scratched up a respectable seventy chunky longfin before calling it a trip and heading in from the west. As for the crystal ball fishing forecast for the upcoming weeks, there still appears to be a very good quantity of albacore around, and, as I reported last week, now is...... Read More

Now, the word is out about the Guadalupe permits that came in yesterday afternoon. First and most important, we all should be grateful to the appropriate agencies in Mexico that were helpful in expediting the permits to fish Guadalupe. We all must remember that it is not our RIGHT to fish Guadalupe but a PRIVILEDGE and as such sincere thanks are in order. Second, we are equally thankful to our representatives who definitely earned their wages during this extended negotiation...... Read More
