Fish Report for 8-7-2007
Well the inevitable change weather change occured today with a freshening twenty to twenty five knot breeze and accompanying seas that made the offshore kelp search a challenging task. Conditions were far from extreme however, and we are well accustomed to working in whatever mother nature metes out, so the show went on with a decent day of kelp action on ten to twenty pound yellowtail with a couple of handfuls of nice dorado in the mix for color. Taking the weather into consideration, as well as the need to stop the boat and enjoy some fishing with a scenic backdrop, we continued our southerly, downhill trek throughout the day and evening with plans to fish in a beautiful island lee all day tomorrow. Beyond tomorrow we will play it by ear as it looks like it may be a couple of more days before mother nature gets the wind out of her system.

We began our annual Pacific Edge five day voyage on a high note with good weather, a perfect load of mixed sardines and anchovies perfect for albacore fishing, and reports of good quantities of albacore offshore ready for the catching. The catching part of the equation was again easier said than done however as all the fish we saw late in the day showed zero interest in what we had to offer.
