We finished our time at Alijos in fine shape although the tuna, for the most part, took the morning off leaving the stage to the "ballslappers" and beautiful grade yellowtail that fortunately occupied angler's time while waiting for the tuna to get with the program. The yellowfin never really did cooperate and that fact, in addition to the weather steadily improving, made the decision to vacate Alijos a natural. So off we go with a nice beginning in the hatch and at least one full day to prospect offshore in prior years most productive big fish zones. Time will tell now so look for tomorrow's report with the full details.

We're plugging away at it now with good mid day, mixed bag action on beautiful quality yellowfin, "ballslapper" grade dorado, and nice yellowtail. We did have a morning of intense consternation as one of our neighbors clobbered the nice tuna while we caught very little observing from the nickel seats. We had a much better go of it today feeling less like sniveling at day's end with a morning and afternoon of decent scratch fishing for yellowfin tuna in the 80 - 135# size class. In fact the morning fish were all beauties averaging 100 pounds or better.
