Fish Report for 9-21-2006
We began our annual Last Chance Bait and Tackle five day on the outside despite troubling reports of fish that did not want to bite and a plain lack of sign in the shallows over the past couple of days. This island, just like every other fishing destination, has definitely had a few ups and downs so we began the fishing phase of this trip hopeful that a few down days would be followed by the fish returning to the shallows hungry and eager to resume their program of coming aboard. Such was not the case. Simply put it was a struggle for all of us out here with the exception of a few honey holes that doled out fair enough scores to assure us that the fish are still around. Otherwise there was plenty of ground covered and not a lot seen.
As dismal as this report seems I am one hundred percent certain that these fish are still around and are simply taking a break in the deep water or wherever else staging for another round of very good fishing. At present it is simply a matter of timing and as such we are wringing our hands in angst with a mere two and a half days of fishing time remaining at this island. With our one hundred percent effort certain in the equation, it is now up to the fish gods to provide the opportunity.
