Fish Report for 8-19-2006
We had a little trouble pushing the reports through the last couple of days so here is the condensed version. Following our slow beginning at Benitos we moved down the following morning to the promised land that has been producing incredible catches of yellowtail for every boat to visit over the past three or four weeks. With a high degree of confidence we continued south to find perfect conditions, almost identical to prior weeks, and very little sign of fish. Needless to say by this time I was beginning to get the hint that a black cloud was following us and did the only thing possible in this situation that all of us who work out here encounter from time to time - hunker down and start slugging it out. As it turned out we did connect up with a whole new area of fish that thankfully provided good mid morning action and set us up for a move to the outside in search of trophy yellowfin on our final morning. Although we certainly would have liked more time, such are the parameters of this four day voyage. Thankfully our final morning was a success with our fishing time spent enjoying good action on fifty to sixty pound yellowfin before traveling up the line in bumpy, but far from disagreeable weather. We depart again today on our annual Mako Nakamura six day adventure with plans to work south again in search of good times and good fishing down below. Look for our reports to continue tomorrow following our arrival.

I can't say we finished off our last voyage with anything other than another valiant attempt to find the lucky horse shoe offshore in fair weather conditions. I'd like to be able to add a few frills and delicately report the fact that the inside track on the offshore scene is a difficult prospect at present, but there really is no way obscure the reality of the picture. It is terrible on the inside with very little sign of anything...... Read More
