Fish Report for 6-14-2006
It was another splendid day of coastal yellowtail action that featured outrageous surface displays of ravenous yellowtail tearing the ocean apart while relentlessly pursuing tons of fleeing mackerel and sardines. The surface jigs were on fire as expected but just about anything anglers chose to use was working when the schools of yellows came through. A huge credit to these anglers is the voluntary releasing taking place that actually began in earnest yesterday as many anglers were thoroughly satisfied with a moderate number of yellowtail for the RSW tank preferring to catch and release the majority of their catch. Either way it made for a fantastic day of fishing that not only entertained and satisfied in the fishing department but kept us protected behind the islands enjoying the good weather benefits while the wind continued to blow on the outside. That portion of our fishing is now done however and tomorrow we head back out to the offshore grounds looking for what have become extremely elusive bluefin, albacore, and/or yellowfin tuna. Although we still have to deal with less than ideal weather conditions on the outside, we have a better forecast and some hope that the weather is on it's way towards significant improvement. We will certainly know tomorrow and report accordingly.

With an ugly weather forecast on...... Read More

More or less the only real excitement yesterday came in the form of a handful of short stops on twelve to fifteen pound yellowfin tuna and challenging sea conditions that were on the increase as the day progressed. I can say with certainty that we were in fantastic water conditions, ripe for a showing on bluefin, but for whatever reason, they were nowhere to be found. Needless to say it was a long day of looking and with challenging weather...... Read More
