Fish Report for 1-14-2006
What a time to begin a ten day fly down/fly back voyage from Cabo San Lucas as the incredible action on giant yellowfin is a mere one hundred miles from our point of departure. We departed from Cabo just after noon today heading for Jaime bank to begin our fishing only two hours following our departure! Needless to say a better scenario to minimize travel time simply does not exist. We will be on the big fish grounds following an easy seven hours of travel time hoping that the good weather, that has been a key element in the success of this year's incredible cow fishing, will hold and the epic big fish action will continue. This voyage features both Captain Randy Toussaint and I sharing the helm duties although I will likely hog the keyboard as I, as usual, have plenty to say.
For now I will simply comment that there are a lot of heroes on the water this season, all deserving the credit, honor, and glory they are receiving. As I stated last month, at times like these it is simply a matter of time, and the more time one has with lines in the water, the more fish he will catch. Let us hope that with our nine full days to target giant yellowfin in this zone that the hero platform has space reserved for a couple more.

Wow, what a way to finish the trip. We got on a school right after daylight and drifted until after lunch for 16 fish, 6 over 200 with the rest in the 140-195 range. After this strop dried up, we went looking and promptly slid into another one that produced 8 from 203-270 and 6 from 170-198. The visual display put on by this big fish was incredible with high 200lbers boiling within feet of the boat all day.We are...... Read More
