Fish Report for 1-14-2005
It appears that yesterday was simply a short break for the bigger fish as they returned this afternoon in force sporting an hearty appetite and strong will to come on board. Naturally we were happy to accommodate and the afternoon was spectacular with extreme fishing being the first description that comes to mind when considering the action. One fifty to two twenty seven was the size average with the majority of the fish landed falling in the one sixty to one hundred ninety pound class. Huge credit goes to this exceptional group of anglers who not only did a fantastic job at the rail but were more than willing to jump in and give us a hand lifting a few trophies over the rail when we were on the ropes during the hot and heavy action. Sardines fished on one hundred pound, chunks, kites, skipjack, flying fish, and probably any other fish small enough to fit in a tuna's mouth were the hot ticket while the biggest of the bunch were definitely focused on the kite baits.
So we now revel in our good fortune from yesterday but this trip is far from over as we set up our final fish hold to carry the catch in fresh, premium condition. We will now focus not just on quantity but quality and if our good luck continues, all anglers will be able to enjoy two or three of these beautiful, trophy yellowfin tuna in perfect, grill or sashimi form upon our return next week.

1-13-2005Although we put together a fine day the size average was considerably different with the bulk of our catch being in the 90 - 140# class and only one fish coming in over the two hundred pound mark. Not that we are complaining about one hundred forty pounders; we aren't, but we began with such a fantastic average yesterday that our expectation are definitely skewed. Conditions are basically the same here and there really is no explanation for the change...... Read More

We had a bang 'em up start here today with three fish coming in over the two hundred pound mark and another fifteen in the one hundred forty to one hundred ninety five pound range. This is the traditional tropical big yellowfin scenario with the bulk of the action taking place in the late evening lasting well into the dark. The weather continues to work in our favor although compared to last couple of days it is a little bumpy....... Read More
