Fish Report for 10-21-2004
The guys finished up the final three days with classic fall ?ridge? action hammering out a fantastic day for 72 fat ?skinnies? as well as finding insane grouper action on a jumbo class of the big bottom monsters not seen for many years in this region. For whatever reason the wary beasts went on the bite one day producing many opportunities while dishing out their usual punishment to those taking a crack at the worthy predators. Mixed in the fray were plenty of school size yellowfin as well as the signature ridge variety of Dorado, yellowtail, wahoo, and even a few billfish. What an incredible day of long range action topped off by beautifully calm seas. As the guys worked their way north, yellowtail were the last species on the menu. As luck would have it they made another fortunate decision landing right in the middle of some decent yellowtail action both finishing up the trip as well as rounding out the quality department in perfect form. All in all one could not have scripted a finer fall ten day voyage boasting quality, quantity, and variety. Once again Captain Toussaint demonstrated his expertise strategizing moves to their maximum advantage while doing some fine fishing along the way. If there is one thing we have learned in our many years now on the water, there is a lot more to a long range trip than simply catching fish. In this department Captain Toussaint and this Royal Star crew are second to none. We are presently scheduled for a six thirty a.m. return on Saturday and will be departing on our annual Newell ten day adventure before noon.

In summary, they spent three days at Alijos scratching steady on both quality yellowfin and Wahoo while enjoying good weather. Following the three day anchor stint they headed out looking hoping to encounter the mother lode area of flotsam holding Dorado and wahoo. Sadly the weather took a turn for...... Read More

Very nice start to the trip today with steady scratching on wahoo and tuna from 40-90lbs. The fish got off the kite and onto the flylined sardines which made for a fun day of angling. The weather is beautiful and we're sitting tight here tonight. ...... Read More
