Fish Report for 3-27-2004
We're gettin 'em. Plain and simple. See a good school, throw bait, and here they come. Forty to one hundred forty pound fish with the majority we are keeping between fifty and one hundred pounds. One mid afternoon stop was absolutely insane with a show of fish reminiscent of "Tribute to Tuna" plowing through the corner and downwind side five, ten, and twenty at a time literally churning the water into a foaming cauldron instantly consuming any bait cast in the vicinity. The stop began with what appeared to be straight forty to seventy pounders then in a matter of moments the bigger models arrived and muscled the smaller fish right out of the picture. All told I think we ended up with six or seven from one hundred ten to one hundred forty from that one stop in addition to all the other "stock" models. What an incredible display of biting fish and once again the fact that this occurred with bright overhead sun in flat calm conditions and crystal clear water made the visual image that much more remarkable. Beginning just after lunch, our steady action lasted right through dark with very little time between stops other than a brief late afternoon break we took to sew up one of our local friends. On a closing note, stand by for the bigger fish. They are here. We are just having a little difficulty catching them; so far. With four more full days to fish we are keeping our fingers crossed that a few are coming our way soon.

Things were looking a little shaky in the fishing department as well with our long morning sojourn encountering nothing until ten a.m. and when we finally did get on a spot...... Read More

Well today was certainly different in that we actually dealt with the first day of sloppy weather since our arrival here in Panama two months prior. No big seas, victory at sea, or perfect storm conditions, just a breezy, choppy sea state that more than anything made the task of locating and remaining with the dolphin schools rather challenging. The good news is that the sign of fish we encountered today with the help of our "code boats" was absolutely...... Read More
