We departed yesterday on our annual May 17-day and are presently traveling towards Alijos, where we plan to fish the afternoon tomorrow. I also hope to fill the slammer with mackerel at the rocks to take down to hurricane, as the sardines from home are on the small side for fishing with the big gear. The weather is presently choppy but reports call for it to improve as we get further South.

Aside from a few spots of small albacore this morning, very little to report as we traveled towards home. That is until this afternoon when we were all broken down and scrubbing the boat. We happened into a fair area of 30-60lb bluefin and couldn't resist stopping to give them a try. pandemonium ensued as we tried to get rigged up and get some hooks in the water as they boiled up. We fished the Hipolito area this morning for great fishing on 12-20lb yellows, one 3 hour drift was all everyone needed to get their yt fix. We spent the afternoon looking offshore as we worked up the line but in spite of good conditions and beautiful weather, found very little. We are going to bend out wide on the way up and plan on trying for a few albacore tomorrow morning before calling it a trip....... Read More
