Royal Star Fish Report

6-3-2004
Royal Star

What a remarkable difference in weather today that set the stage for a very pleasant day of offshore fishing that once again was not to be the greatest catch of all time but provided plenty of action on 12 - 20# albacore and 5 - 10# kelp paddy yellowtail. Forty eight albies was the grand total and the catch was fortunately spread throughout the day in quick stops producing three to ten fish. The light outfits were definitely the hot ticket today with 15 - 20# test and #4 hooks the perfect combo for our beautiful load of small sardines. The highlight of the day in every respect is the fact the jackpot was secured by lady anglers Anastasia Schmoll and Terry Crandall in the face of stiff competition from twenty two eager, hard driving fishermen. Congratulations to the ladies who split the jackpot with respective twenty pounders and one half pounders.

So ends our rarely scheduled mini long range adventures and the remainder of our week will be spent tending to mechanical projects in preparation for the upcoming six months. Look for our reports to continue beginning Saturday, June 5 when we depart on a seven day adventure. I will be running the trip following my appearance that morning on Let's Talk Hookup with my good friend Pete Gray. I hope you all will be listening and we will see you again next week.

These voyages are a fantastic opportunity for prospective long range anglers to taste the Royal Star experience before dedicating more time to a traditional long...... Read More

Not the banner finale we were hoping for but a nice day nonetheless. Bruce started us off again this morning with a 210 which was followed by a slow scratch the rest of the day for a total of 12 fish from 110-180. We also had 20 wahoo mixed in which added excitement to the day. We are presently traveling into the cape in decent weather and should arrive early on the 23rd. Tim and I have decided to make this trip...... Read More
