Bruce Smith docked the Shogun at Fisherman's Landing August 31 after a four-day trip that visited several spots. After a slow day at Guadalupe Smith tried the Benitos Islands.

"There's a lot of yellowtail showing now at Benitos," he said. "It looks real good."

The group also fished for rockfish not far from San Martin Island, and made a good catch of reds and other species. There was not jackpot. Sam Pazzulla of fountain Valley posed for a shot with his cow cod. The rockfish bit on a slab of squid. Hyman Walker of Las Vegas showed off a yellowtail of about 25 pounds. He got that fish on a sardine and 30-pound line.
