Beauties

After a long night of fishing for only a few bites we opted to fish the banks. The main objective was to enjoy the nice weather while it last and get some bites. Very good action on reds and nice sized lings ensured that everyone has some nice table fare to enjoy at home. After we our rockcod quota for the day was fulfilled we fished the shallows with very little conviction and managed only one small yellowtail.

As nightfall came around we planned on fishing a new zone 25 miles Northwest of where we have been fishing in hopes for a different body of fish. Sure enough it didn’t take long for us to have a very good opportunity to catch a giant bluefin tuna. With fish coming under us for over an hour and a few casualties we managed 3 giants out of our first school. A 210, 202 and a 185, what beauties. Unfortunately that was our only opportunity for one of those giants. After multiple attempts at hitting the same school they eventually blew up into a million pieces.

So the search began again. After another hour of search we found another school of fish this time being those filler fish ranging 20-30 pounds where we landed another 5 fish bring our total to 8 fish for the night. As the weather became more and more nautical we finally threw in the towel around 0230 pointing her down south hoping to find some kelps holding some yellowtail tomorrow.

Here’s another abundance of photos featuring our school and a couple of beauties landed in the chaos.
