Hi gang,

We departed on our annual Avet Reels sponsored 7 day trip on Sunday morning. After loading all of our gear, we cleared the point just before noon with a beautiful load of sardine. Our weather was flat calm and just before 1700 we saw a boiler spot of bluefin. We stopped, no bites. Sonar dome down now and located a nice school of bluefin, stopped, one bite and lost it. Glassing around and saw a really nice spot of pushers marked with tern birds, got up on it and hooked one almost right away. We ended up hooking 10 fish, landing 6, all of which were 50 to 60 pounds. A nice little start on departure day. We continued south and are getting ready to start fishing yellowtail today. Our weather is beautiful and we are all rigged and ready. We have the owners of Avet Reels on board this trip, Harry and Sarkas Alajajyan. These guys are really cool and everyone was blown away as they gave everyone on board a brand new, in the box, Avet 2 speed reel. So, we cleared the point before noon, everyone had a nice lunch in calm seas, the owners of Avet gave everyone a brand new reel, we had a good shot at 50 to 60 pound bluefin late afternoon, and we finished the day with an amazing prime rib dinner prepared by our chefs Kasey and Taylor. We fish today. Life is good, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
