Hi Gang,

We returned back to Point Loma Sportfishing yesterday at 0630 with an impressive catch of yellowfin tuna (mostly 25 to 90 pounds with 36 fish that were over 100 pounds), wahoo, dorado, yellowtail, wahoo, and gulf grouper. We took advantage of the great local tuna fiahing at the beginning of the trip, fished 2 days for quality yellowfin tuna up to 50 pouinds and quality bluefin tuna up to 60 pounds, then offloaded beautiful fresh RSW fish straight into Five Star Fish Processing ice totes before we went South for the final portion of our trip. We experienced good yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and dorado fishing in the area of the 'Ridge'. We were the first boat in our fleet to locate big fish on the 'Lower Banks'. We enjoyed 3 days of good opportunities on big yellowfin tuna that were mostly 120 to 180 pounds (we had two heartbreaking losses on fish that were bigger.) We finished our quota of dorado on an open water school that was as wide open as you could ever hope for. We scratched at good grade yellowtail on the beach, and we enjoyed good weather the entire trip. We fished 11 days of a 14 day trip and put together a very nice catch. I cannot thank our charter hosts Phil Hein and Dave Mosher enough for the effort they put into this trip. The amount of giveaways these guys had for everyone on board was amazing. Wine was served at dinner every night thanks to Wooden Valley Winery. A huge thank you to the generous sponsors for this trip goes out to Furuno, Mustad, Pelican, Soft Steel, Accurate, Flexx-Rap, AFW, Calstar, Wooden Valley, Five Star Fish Processing, and Hoo's Run and Gun trip shirts and hats provided by Phil Hein and Dave Mosher. The food this trip was on another level and chefs Terry Fox and Chasen Keller coud not have done a better job. Our crew of Steve, Jack, Kevin, Deron, and Ed worked hard and were in the right place at the right time all trip. We could not have accompished what we did wihout these guys.

The jackpot winners for the first leg of our trip are as follows: third place went to Bill Dunn with a 54.8 pound bluefin tuna, second place went to Ken Houser with a 57.1 pound bluefin tuna, and first place goes to Dave McGrouther with a 62.7 pound bluefin tuna. The jackpot winners for the second leg of the trip are as follows: third place went to Greg Wood with a 166.2 pound yellowfin tuna, second place went to Dave McGrouther with a 167.6 pound yellowfin tuna, and first place goes to Don Kammerzell with a 185.3 pound yellowfin tuna. Strong work men! Thank you to everyone that joined us on the trip. We look forward to fishing with everyone again and very excited about this trip next year. Thanks for checking in. Life is good, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
