Alijos Rocks, also known as Los Alijos, are a group of volcanic rocks located in the Pacific Ocean, approximately 300 miles southwest of Baja California, Mexico. This remote location is a renowned fishing spot, especially for long-range fishing trips.

Best Time to Fish:
The prime fishing season at Alijos Rocks generally runs from late spring through early fall (May to October). The warmer months attract a variety of big game fish to the area.

Target Species:
Anglers can expect to encounter a variety of prized game fish, including, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Yellowtail and Dorado.
      
Popular techniques for targeting these species include:

  • Trolling with lures or live bait
  • Jigging for bottom fish
  • Fly-lining live bait for pelagic species
  •  Using poppers and stickbaits for surface action

Equipment:

  •     Heavy-duty saltwater rods and reels
  •     Braided line (50-100 lb test)
  •     Variety of lures and jigs
  •     Terminal tackle, including hooks, swivels, and leaders
  •     Live bait (if available)

They ensure the vessel is well-maintained and equipped for long-range trips, carry ample supplies of fuel, water, and food. Logistically, these experienced crews and their vessels, have a reliable GPS, satellite phone, emergency equipment, and stay  aware of weather conditions and potential hazards.

Vessel operators stay informed about current fishing reports and conditions to help ensure a successful trip. Your captain and vessel crew will help you obtain the necessary fishing permits and clearances from the relevant authorities, are aware of and adhere to local fishing regulations and catch limits and practice sustainable fishing to preserve the ecosystem.

You'll need to ensure that you communicate with the office staff about passport requirements, deposit schedules, cancellation policies, recommendations about clothing, sea sickness medications and travel insurance, before booking your trip and prior to your trip date.
