Fish Report for 7-7-2026

With the weather forecast not looking friendly we decided to fish some different water into the east of the fleet which also held calmer seas. After a beautiful night on the anchor hosted by San Clemente island we took off around 0600. Main objective for day was to avoid the wind and cover new untouched ground.
Lots and lots of kelps seen along our tour that mostly had a handful or more fish on them. Unfortunately we had an ongoing theme this trip which was getting the fish to bite. From a captains perspective seeing yellowtail free swim all around your baits and not bite was very very frustrating. But hey, what are you gonna do. Luckily around 80 miles into our search we found a handful of kelps that produced a couple of bites. Most of those bites were small, shakers as we call them, but there were a few trophies mixed in as well. Overall we tagged 17 fish for our day. Only a hand full of those fish being under ten pounds and the rest being anywhere from 12-22 pounds.
Tomorrow Brian and Myself will be departing for 3. We shall see where we end up. Please enjoy a few photos taken during our voyage.
