A five-day Glenn's Tackle Open Charter aboard Qualifier 105 returned August 23 at Point Loma Sportfishing. Skipper Joe Crisci said, "Everybody had a good time, nothing's different, nothing's changed. The albacore fishing was slow but Cedros was beautiful, great quality yellowtails."

Wayne Honda, of Oceanside beat out 34 anglers for a 42.2-pound yellowtail, placing him first in the jackpot. Wayne used a 4/0 ringed gorilla hook on 40-pound Izorline fluorocarbon, a Trinidad 30 reel, and a Calstar 700H rod.

"Cedros was excellent," Wayne said. "The albacore was slow, we just missed ???em."

Peter Murray, of Lakewood took second place with a 38.4-pound white seabass.

"It was all you wanted," said Peter, "of 30 to 40-pound yellowtail at Cedros. The crew and Joe worked extremely hard for us."

Rich Plotin, of Northridge was third for a 36.8-pound halibut.

"We're all chompin' at the bit to fish Guadalupe," said Crisci. "It's 310 miles between the albacore grounds and Cedros, and there's nothing in between. At least now, we'll have that option to check out Guadalupe."
