Searcher Gets Engines For Christmas

Bill Roecker

A brief visit with owner-skipper Art Taylor on the dock at Fisherman's Landing recently provided information about the 95-foot boats freshly-rebuilt engines and transmissions. The big diesels are 3406 Caterpillars, said Art, putting out 475 horsepower apiece. Taylor remarked on how little wear he found in their interiors, after many years of service. The engines are like new now, and the old girl should get around fine for many more years. The photo here is of Searcher off Cabo San Augustine, at the southwest end of Cedros Island, a shot I took in June of 2008.
