Fish Report for 12-3-2012

A General Review of the Long Range Fishing scene

This round of fishing, the period after the Thanksgiving holiday, has been so good it's hard to believe. Starting tomorrow, the next six days will see the return of the long range fleet. Intrepid appears to be first home, arriving tomorrow. Most of the boats will be packing plenty of cows, and all of them have some 200 pounders, it appears from their reports. Just how good is it?

"Fishing was again very, very good," reported Independence skipper Jeff DeBuys November 28. "For the day we kept 60 tuna, 40 are in the 150 to 250-pound range!"

Excel is another boat measuring the cow catch by the dozen, as the following report indicates. The photo here is of John and Shannon Nutt, a couple that pulls on big tuna together.

The Searcher is out of the water, in drydock, getting ready for rebuilt engines. A video is posted on the boat's website. Do to http://www.searchersportfishing.com if you want to see it.
