Searcher returns from a 7 Day trip in southern waters

Skipper Aaron Remy docked Art Taylor's Searcher at Fisherman's Landing November 3 after a seven day excursion that touched southern waters long enough to ring up a nice catch of wahoo, along with schoolie tuna and dorado and yellowtail. Outdoor writer John Beath was aboard, said Remy. "It was about 73 degrees at Alijos Rocks and good skin fishing," noted Remy. "We definitely had our chances at 'em."

Dale Changnon of Healdsburg won first place for his 45-pound wahoo. He said he got it with a sardine on a 4/0 Owner Gorilla hook tied to 50-pound Seaguar Premier fluorocarbon and 80-pound Power Pro spectra. He fished with a Talica 16 reel and a Terez seven-foot rod.

Joe Granacher of Vancouver Island, B. C. won second place for a 40-pound skinny. Bob Yoshimoto of Thousand Oaks won third place for a 38-pound wahoo.

Searcher's next trip will be a nine-day leaving Thursday, said Taylor.
