Joe Crisci brought Qualifier 105 home to Pt. Loma Sportfishing November 2 after a 10-day Sav-On Tackle trip with 26 anglers and chartermaster Dave Taylor aboard. They fished on the southern banks a day and a half for some nice big tuna, getting four cows, and had a catch of other species. "We started out on the local tuna," said Joe, "and it was ok. Benitos was very good for yellowtail. We got a few wahoo at Alijos Rocks, found some wahoo and dorado inside, and went down to the Finger to finish up. We got a dozen fish on the boat there, but lost at least 30. My advice to anglers coming out is listen to the crew, and use big gear."

Matt Prewitt of Gaviota caught a 212-pound yellowfin with a sardine on an Owner 7/0 ringed Super Mutu hook and 100-pound Izorline. He said he used 130-pound Izorline spectra on an Avet 30 reel and a Calstar 655 XXH rod.

Dan Jiminez of Alhambra bagged a 204-pounder with a sardine on a 4/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu hook and 100-pound Big Game line, with 130-pound Izorline spectra on a Penn 30 SW reel and a Calstar 665 XH rod.

Marvin Lee of Taiwan used a sardine under the kite and one of the boat's rigs to take a 202-pound tuna, and Jeff Vocelker of Woodland Hills took his best fish ever, a 200-pound tuna, on a sardine and an 8/0 ringed Owner Super Mutu on 100-pound Big Game line and 100-pound Power Pro spectra wrapped on an Okuma 30 reel and a Daiwa six-foot rod. He remarked that the fish took him around the boat four times and fought for an hour and a half.
