Bill Poole Memorial Tourney

The tournament concluded Saturday, as far as fishing was concerned, and the awards ceremony was held Sunday, July 31. Former SAC president Bob Fletcher was kind enough to offer FishingVideos.com this summary: "While we fought the weather, the bottom line is that we raised a lot of money for the white seabass hatchery! The weather (A lot of wind!) slowed catching for the private boaters and kayakers, the passengers on the EXCEL fought the elements to bring back 3 bluefin, 1 yellowfin tuna, two yellowtail and one beautiful, fat 36-pound albacore that won Goran Kirouski the top spot as high sport boat angler and high tourney angler. For his catch Goran was given two beautiful stylized fish hook trophies, created by artist David Wirth, and the admiration of all the tourney participants.

At the awards BBQ on Sunday there was great food ('Sportfishing owners attended the reception on the Excel, a great opportunity to meet and visit with the new owners. Exceptional sushi was beautifully prepared and enjoyed,' wrote Ingrid Poole), and lots of raffle and silent auction prizes. In the end we raised thousands of dollars to help the great scientists in the Hubbs family conduct the science to make the Enhancement program even more successful than it has been up to now."
