Roy Rose brought Fran LoPreste's Royal Polaris home from a five-day trip with 33 anglers July 19. There were 33 anglers, who found limits of yellowtail at Cedros Island, Rose told dock reporter Bill Roecker, and also got some halibut and rockfish.

Jay Ahread of Long Beach won first place for a 32-pound yellowtail. He wasn't available for an interview.

Dan Tran of San Francisco won second place for a 24.8-pound yellow. He said it bit on a Salas 6X Jr. jig in scrambled eggs finish, on 30-pound Izorline.

David Malone of Topanga won third place for a 24-pound yellowtail.

Bob Antonelli of San Francisco was in the fourth spot. He was stoked about reading At The Rail on the boat, so he went into the tackle shop at Fisherman's Landing and bought a copy for Bill Roecker to sign.

"It's the greatest fishing book I ever picked up," he said. "It's full of stories and wonderful personalities and history. I'll tell my friends to buy it. I read a lot of books, and that's a great one."
