Waited

A long morning with little action was taken in stride. Epic weather and recent history instilled confidence in our strategical decision to sit and wait. Though normally we would be hot on their trail in search mode if the pace was not satisfactory in less than an hour the setting today dictated otherwise. So we waited, saw one occasionally crash around, and landed less than a handful throughout the morning holding the high ground.

Then, as the noon hour rolled around, they arrived right on schedule. From zero to blazing in less than ten minutes the morning lull was replaced with a solid hit on 60 - 90 pound yellowfin before settling into a nice steady scratch all afternoon. Signature Guadalupe action.

Calling it a success in the early evening hour we yielded our sweet spot in favor of a scenic tour introducing anglers to the rugged beauty of this astounding island up close and personal. And along the way we bumped into a spot of voracious, school size yellowtail that provided plenty of action and fun for the pluggers, and anyone else with a line in the water. Closing our time on the outside on just the right note a savory send off dinner was enjoyed in the grease calm lee before heading out on course for offshore grounds tomorrow.

Dedicating at least a few hours on the outside while traveling up we’ll be prospecting hard for our next three day and all of our brethren currently working offshore. Photo today features Royal Star veteran Andy Marshall, sixteen years young, with his first yellowfin of the voyage weighing in at a personal best of 109 pounds! My son Duke in the foreground got in on the action receiving high gaffing honors.

If you would like to go fishing with us please BOOK ONLINE or call (619) 224-4764 to get in on the action.
